Summary Short Story: Winning and Losing

            Peter had no father and mother, both his parents were dead and Peter lived with his grandma. Peter is clever. He passes examination to get scholarship in Higher Secondary School. Peter told about the examination and the scholarship to his old friend, Mr Mark. He often told Peter the story of their village. He remembers Peter to never forget about village, family, and friends.

            Peter and his grandma were going to Trebzin. They walked 4 miles to the main road and sat down by the road to eat their breakfast. They had eggs, bread and vegetables. This is his favorite breakfast. After they arrived in Trebzin, they walked to the Higher Secondary School to see the official. The official said the scholarship pays half the fees. The full fees are £300 for a term. So, they must pay £150 a term. Peter’s grandma was Shocked. She will work hard and earn the money to pay the fees every week. Then, they meet their cousin, Dev. He lived in Trebzin and Worked in a big garage. Grandma told Dev about their problem. Finally, owner of garage, Mr.Rick gives the shed to live.

            Every morning Peter went to school and every evening he did homework. His grandma washed and ironed. When Dev came Peter is writing the story of his village. Dev likes his story. The story will be give to his teacher. The story is good and beautiful, said his teacher. But the teacher gave back his homework. The teacher accuses Peter cheated. Actually, Peter didn’t it. He felt very unhappy. He stayed with Dev and told his problem. When Peter is going to home, He saw the teacher talking with his grandma. The teacher apologizes for his mistakes to Peter. He admitted that Peter is clever. He is also proud of Peter’s grandma, because grandma works very hard.  A few days later, the teacher gave letter. The letter said that Peter was given Fifty Pounds to his grandma. She was very surprised and happy. She didn’t work again. She shall go back to Feros Village to see everybody. 

            One day, Peter get letter about his grandma. She is not well. Peter told Dev about the letter to. Then, Dev came and say that they can go on the lorry. Finally, Peter met his grandma whom lying on her bed. She looked ill and very old. She always thinking about Peter’s Higher Secondary School and then his chest was terrible pain. But she feels better because Peter came to see her. His grandma want going into the garden. They sat under the tree. Grandma remembers about favorite breakfast. Then, She ask young people to make breakfast for Peter and Dev. They were hungry. They brought table and chairs. Finally, the breakfast was ready. Dev and Peter eat them. But grandma didn’t. After breakfast, Grandma goes back to her bed and lay down. Peter looked at her again. She had stopped breathing. She was dead.
